I'm 94 books into the year with 19 in June alone - I have no life 😁

Whoa! Sounds amazing. Do you sleep?!? I do not normally count or set a goal for the number of books read, but I did count yesterday. I have finished 38 this year, with a few in progress. You’ve lapped me!

I know what you mean about showing your face on social media. I really hate doing it but I love seeing other people's faces - a double standard I guess. I have noticed that the posts where share pictures of myself tend to engage people the most, so your daughter is probably right, but don't expect to see me on TikToc any time soon.

I recently finished The Strange Case of Jane O by Karen Thompson Walker which, whilst not the most amazing book I've ever read, was very interesting and thought-provoking. It made me think a lot about other lives and different realities.

May I highlight the best non-fiction book I’ve read this year? Everything is Tuberculosis by John Green. It absolutely captivated me with the combination of history and science and culture and politics… all to illuminate the fact that this very curable disease has become a global disease of social inequality.

Yes you may! Sounds fascinating. I have not been reading as much non-fiction as I usually do. The last three non-fiction books I chose left me angry and bereft. But it is so important to stay informed!

So can we coin a new phrase (or maybe there is one already) for when we "hate finish" a book.... because we're just too stubborn to quit it? I just finished reading a very highly acclaimed recent novel, and 50% of the way into it, I just wasn't hooked and I didn't understand all the positive buzz. So I kept reading it, almost out of stubborness. Is there a word for this type of "hate finishing a book" - or mabye I'm the only one who feels this way????

Yes but do we hate the book or hate ourselves when we do this? Haha. You did not let them win! Now I have to know which book this was…

There are so many books to read I sometimes panic but The Feast is at the top for summer if I can do it and Middlemarch at the same time.

It’s true. We cannot read them all. The Feast has been on my mind for about a year. I’m 52 pages in and while I was not sure at the very beginning if I had set myself up to be disappointed, I am into it now!

A few trusted people are saying “Flashlight” didn’t quite work. I’m on a waiting list at the library. I still want to have a read or a listen.

Do! It was moving in its own way and I look forward to knowing what you think of it, Victoria.
